While not the league’s biggest snub, Golden State Warriors’ superstar guard D’Angelo Russell should’ve certainly been a Western Conference All-Star.

D’Angelo Russell’s case is not infallible. It’s not like Bradley Beal’s or Devin Booker’s midseason resume, but at the end of the day, the Golden State Warriors’ star put up the numbers of an All-Star.

After the Western Conference All-Star starters and reserves were announced, fans immediately went to who didn’t make it. In the Western Conference, it was Devin Booker’s name that was oftentimes mentioned.

Fans seemingly wanted Booker, who is averaging a career-high 27.1 points and 6.4 assists per game, to occupy a spot. Well, he didn’t. Both Rudy Gobert, Russell Westbrook, and Chris Paul were nominated over the fifth-year star who is averaging a career-high 51.0% from the field.

Aside from Booker, Russell was a clear snub, putting up career-highs of his own in his first season as a Warrior.

Russell is notching 24.0 points per game. However, as the Warriors are in dead last as Russell has received little help, there was virtually no way he was given the bid over a player like Booker. That’s not to take away from Russell is doing though.

His numbers, when compared to a player like Westbrook and Paul, are clearly better. Sadly, the Rockets and Thunder are in fifth and seventh respectively. They aren’t like the Warriors who have won just ten games this season.

That’s why Russell wasn’t respected in the voting, yet at the same time, Russell finished ninth in Western Conference guards fan voting which didn’t bode well for his All-Star hopes. An All-Star a year ago, Russell deserved to get a bit more respect as a snub.

Most of the conversation is centered around Paul and then Bradley Beal in the East. While their numbers are awing, Russell also deserves some talk as one of the West’s better guards and a top All-Star snub.
