Glenn Robinson III to Houston

The Houston Rockets are looking to shed a few high-value contracts. Yet, with Russell Westbrook and James Harden on their roster, they have no choice but to continue as one of the NBA’s premier contenders, currently sitting fifth in the Western Conference.

One way they can get the best of both worlds is by trading for Glenn Robinson III. Robinson has averaged more than double his previous career-high while with Golden State and has continued to thrive as a shooter as well, nearing 40% from downtown.

That’s exactly what the Rockets, who shoot the most threes in the NBA, are looking for. They’re fine with playing through Harden and four shooters, making Robinson III, a quality two-way forward, the quintessential addition.

While they’d likely have to take money back in a Clint Capela deal, trading for Robinson and then sending Capela away could cut around $14 million in salary which could mean multiple millions more in luxury tax savings.

For just a few second-round picks, Robinson would be a Rocket. On a veteran’s minimum contract, Robinson to Houston may not happen, but it certainly does make sense.
