D’Angelo Russell to New York

The last best-case scenario revolves around the New York Knicks trading for D’Angelo Russell.

It’s far from likely and most won’t think it’d be ideal, but adding several draft picks and Mitchell Robinson would give Golden State perfect players to slide in beside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Robinson gives size, length and a rim-protecting center, something they really haven’t had in several years. Dealing Russell would also free Golden State up to select the best player available with their top pick, potentially taking Anthony Edwards.

It’d be hard to find a team better than Curry, Thompson, Edwards, Draymond Green and Robinson next season. Obviously, Russell is a superstar talent, averaging 24 points per game with Golden State.

However, as media made sure to note before the season, the fit just isn’t necessarily there on paper with Curry and Thompson manning the backcourt, and if a favorable blockbuster deal comes in, it should be hard for Golden State to resist it.

While technically only three of these trades could happen, they should all be considered a best-case scenario for Golden State.
