The Michael Robinson deal

This is easily the most ideal of the three for New York. They’ll be dealing former lottery pick Kevin Knox who truly hasn’t become what New York had hoped for, two second-round picks and then center Mitchell Robinson.

Robinson has shown flashes of becoming that next-level rim-protecting throughout the season. Averaging 9.1 points and 6.7 rebounds, Robinson is leading the league in field goal percentage at 72.2% from the field.

Tack on the 1.8 blocks per game, and it’s easy to understand why Golden State may want the 7-foot, 21-year-old. Additionally, he’d be a better “fit” on paper than Russell given the Warriors’ other strengths on the court.

They’d boast a lineup of Curry, Thompson, Green and Robinson. It’d seem likely that they’d then take Anthony Edwards, a potential superstar small forward from the University of Georgia in the 2020 draft, rounding out their starting five for next season.

While the best deal for New York, Golden State would likely still be asking for more.
