Andrew Wiggins will receive a potentially career-altering fresh start with the Golden State Warriors.

A much-needed change of scenery is on the way for Andrew Wiggins. The high school phenom has a chance to get himself back on track with the Golden State Warriors.

One of the first players to garner hype through social media, Wiggins become a top prospect due to his electric Hoop Mixtapes. The high flying athlete captured the attention of NBA scouts everywhere and was the No.1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

His career began with a bang. Wiggins averaged 16.9 points on his way to winning the 2014-15 Rookie of the Year Award. As a sophomore, he took another jump as a scorer, bumping his per-game averages to 20.7.

Since his third year in the league, Wiggins has seen his numbers decrease. His willingness to improve has been nonexistent as he has yet to become the superstar he was once projected to be.

The Warriors are hoping that an adjusted role with a winning team is all that Wiggins needs to hit his stride. The potential for him to become a star is still there and he has had great moments this season.

For a 21 game stretch early in the season, Wiggins averaged 26.0 points and 5.1 rebounds on 46.1 percent shooting. Though his production has fallen off since then, this streak is a promising sign for the young forward.

Wiggins will have a much different job with the Dubs. He will no longer be asked to carry a large portion of the offensive load. Rather, he will take a backseat to the superstar duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

With fewer expectations, it’s reasonable to expect a revitalized Andrew Wiggins. He is now playing under a championship culture and will have all of the resources needed to save his career from being remembered as painfully average.
