The Golden State Warriors threw Jordan Poole into the fire to start his NBA career, and now, the rookie shooting guard is getting a second chance.

After dealing half a dozen players just months after they were just eight healthy bodies deep, the Golden State Warriors need all hands on deck. Signing several unknown prospects, the Warriors will be bringing Jordan Poole back up and giving him another chance to prove himself.

Earlier this season, Poole had issues with his efficiency. Playing in 29 of the team’s first 31 games, Poole averaged 7.1 points on 25% from the field. It was even uglier from deep as he shot just over 24%.

But, if we’re honest, the Warriors’ coaching staff shouldn’t have assumed anything different would’ve happened. Not overly productive or efficient in his time with Michigan, Poole was considered a reach as a first-round pick.

The Warriors reached for him, and we’ve yet to see if it will pay off. But, fans will be getting more of a look at Poole for a second time this season. Poole, for the time being, is showing much more potential than he was earlier on in the season.

Poole has played in the Warriors’ last 18 games.

With seven double-digit performances, Poole is averaging 8.8 points on 36% from the field. Poole has continued to mature during his time in the league, and for a rookie playing rather meaningless games, that’s all you can ask for.

At 6-foot-4, Poole was one of the best shooters of the 2019 NBA Draft class. Having notched at least three triples in four of those last 18 games, Poole is finally starting to find his rhythm, a seemingly impossible task for the rookie earlier on the season.

It’s difficult to predict whether this success will continue, but there’s no denying that he’ll have the opportunity with Jacob Evans, Omari Spellman, D’Angelo Russell, Willie Cauley-Stein, Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III all elsewhere.
