Golden State Warriors: Giannis puts some respect on Stephen Curry’s name
The Golden State Warriors have not had a good season, but reigning-MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo knows their struggle is short-lived.
The entire NBA knows that the Golden State Warriors will be back.
However, currently at the bottom of the Western Conference, most of the players and fans are relishing in the fact that the Warriors aren’t going to the NBA Finals.
After all, they’ve managed to go to five straight and win three of the last five. They’ve become the villain to many opposing fanbases. The addition of Kevin Durant three years ago didn’t help as the team had four of the league’s top-30 players.
They’ve accomplished such success on the back of two-time MVP Stephen Curry. Curry, the league’s only unanimous MVP in its history, has been out since the fourth game of the season in which, against the Phoenix Suns, he broke his left hand.
The Warriors’ playoff aspirations were killed with the initial plan to stay in contention until Klay Thompson could also return and help run the West.
Well, since the injury, the Warriors and one of the league’s most dynamic players haven’t seen much spotlight. However, when asked about Curry, the league’s reigning MVP gave an answer that’s in the mind of every current player.
It’s honestly just the truth. The NBA is easier without the Golden State Warriors. Had they been healthy throughout the entire 2019 Finals, we may be talking about a team that’s won three straight Finals.
They would then certainly be the most hated team in the league, and with Curry having been the leader of these teams, it’s his name that is often times associated with the team that’s currently one of the league’s worst.
However, Giannis and the rest of the league know that they’ll at least be in contention against next season.
But, the competition will be fierce, and it’ll be a battle for the West and then for the league as Giannis and his Bucks have developed into an Eastern Conference powerhouse.
