Golden State Warriors: 3 goals for remainder of season

3. Secure top draft odds
The best thing about this ugly season for the Golden State Warriors will be the reward of a top draft pick.
It has been eight years since the Dubs selected a player in the lottery. The most recent was Harrison Barnes, who was selected No. 7 overall and played four seasons with the Dubs before being replaced by Kevin Durant.
As of now, the Warriors have a 12-43 record, making them the worst team in the association. This gives the Warriors a three-way tie between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks for the best chance of winning the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery.
This draft doesn’t appear to be loaded but players such as LaMelo Ball, James Wiseman and Anthony Edwards could all have a big impact on the Warriors’ future. Because of this, securing a top pick is a must.
This is a sticky situation for the Warriors as they obviously don’t want to lose games on purpose. However, it shouldn’t be too difficult to stay on the pace they have been playing at and finish the season as one of the three worst teams in the league.
