The Golden State Warriors are putting on a clinic on how to rebuild an NBA franchise.

It’s time to give praise to the Golden State Warriors’ front office. Faced with a number of potential dynasty ending events, the Dubs have kept the ship afloat and will likely be title contenders again by next season.

Let’s start at the top. Crushing injuries to Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson robbed the Warriors of a three-peat and doomed the 2019-20 season regardless of Durant’s decision to leave in free agency.

Once Durant announced he was leaving, the Dubs front office engineered a deal to bring a young All-Star in D’Angelo Russell to the Bay Area. This move was made in desperation but proved to be crucial as Russell’s trade value became important later in the season.

Before Stephen Curry‘s hand injury, the Warriors had hopes of at least reaching the playoffs. Once it became clear that the two-time MVP would be sidelined for an extended period of time, the Warriors entered full tank mode.

The Dubs began to rest Draymond Green and D-Lo, allowing the two stars as much time as needed to recover from minor injuries. As a result, the Dubs plummetted down the NBA standings and have sat in a position to win the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery ever since.

Their pick in the upcoming draft will offer more freedom moving forward. The Warriors can either draft a player to potentially carry the torch for future generations or trade the pick for assets that can help them compete in the present day.

At the trade deadline, the Warriors finally made the most of Russell’s value by exchanging him for Andrew Wiggins and two future draft picks. One of which, was a 2021 First Round pick that could wind up being valuable.

Wiggins is a much better fit than Russell ever was. The pure scoring forward will thrive alongside the Splash Brothers and offer consistency on the offensive end.

Even though the team has struggled, Steve Kerr has demanded the Warriors play their brand of basketball. The Dubs have not abandoned their culture or system, still leading the league in passes per game.

dark. Next. 3 Warriors that must step up

The Warriors have made no excuses. Because of this, they will accelerate back to the top next season with a healthy roster. This has been a great showing of how to maintain stability in the face of adversity.
