Amidst a rough season, the Golden State Warriors are working to re-imagine their dynasty.

A little over a year ago, the Golden State Warriors seemed poised for longterm dominance over the league. An incredible core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and DeMarcus Cousins seemed too good to be true. Unfortunately, it was.

It’s hard to overstate how quickly the Dubs dynasty came crumbling down. Injury after injury struck as the Warriors hopelessly watched their hopes of a three-peat vanish. Sitting at the bottom of the league standings, we are all left wondering what happened.

Thankfully, the Warriors front office hasn’t been standing by idly. From the moment Durant made his decision to leave the franchise, the Warriors have been working diligently to rebuild what is left.

Warriors owner Joe Lacob recently told Mark Medina of USA Today that he sees a bright future for his organization. “The great thing about this is we can reimagine the next dynasty,” Lacob said.

The Warriors have done a phenomenal job of reacting on the fly to cut their losses and set themselves up for a better future. The loss of Durant was ultimately converted into Andrew Wiggins, a 2021 First Round pick and a future second-round pick. Furthermore, injuries to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson rewarded the Warriors with a top pick in the upcoming 2020 NBA Draft.

With these draft picks, the Warriors have the freedom to draft whatever they need to shape the franchise’s future. They can choose to draft a dominant paint presence such as James Wiseman or a skilled guard like Anthony Edwards or LaMelo Ball.

Once the Splash Brothers return to the lineup, the Warriors will have a strong and experienced group to mentor their younger core. This will keep the Warriors competitive in the present while also setting them up for future success.

Not many franchises are capable of flipping such a disastrous year into a favorable outcome. We have seen how other teams in the past can be devastated by injury or key free agency losses. Fortunately, it appears the Warriors will be back on track soon.
