The Golden State Warriors have found themselves lacking in veteran experience, something they will need in order to compete for a title next season.

It’s very difficult for a team to win a championship without some sort of veteran leadership holding down the unit. For the Golden State Warriors, next season is going to be a bumpy road if they don’t add more veteran talent.

As of now, the oldest player on the roster is Stephen Curry. At 31 years of age and with five trips to the NBA Finals under his belt, Curry is about as experienced as a player can get. The Warriors can feel comfortable having a star with Curry’s resume.

However, aside from Curry and the other two members of the big three (Draymond Green and Klay Thompson), the Warriors are lacking experience. In fact, the Warriors have the third-youngest team in the league with an average age of 24.9 years old.

The Dubs are currently relying heavily on some young prospects. Eric Paschall (23) has played big minutes as a rookie and is one of the team’s leading scorers. Meanwhile, Ky Bowman (22) and Jordan Poole (20) have both spent time in the starting lineup throughout their first season.

Andrew Wiggins is going to be the Warriors’ biggest x-factor next season and he is only 24 years old. Wiggins is a skilled scorer but has yet to prove he can maintain consistency over a long period of time.

The Warriors front office will need to add more veteran leadership to this roster if they wish to compete next season. The absence of players like Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston will hurt more than ever if the team isn’t able to replace them.

Some potential free agency targets include Kyle Korver, Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka. Any of these experienced players would help the Warriors buff their second unit and increase their odds of winning another title.
