Stephen Curry is set to rejoin the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, March 1. Here is how his return will immediately affect the team.

Finally, we have an official return date for Stephen Curry. The two-time MVP will hit the hardwood for the first time since October as the Golden State Warriors take on the Washington Wizards.

Curry has been rehabbing a fractured left hand that required surgery earlier in the season. According to NBC Sports, Curry is still dealing with some nerve damage and is learning how to deal with a “new normal.”

The Warriors have been attempting to survive in Curry’s absence but things have not been going to plan. Losing Curry has proven to be too much of a blow to overcome with the team plummeting out of the playoff picture and sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference with a 12-45 record.

Curry is ready to go on Sunday against the Wizards but what can we expect from him in his first game?

Well, assuming that Curry will be on some sort of minute restriction, we shouldn’t expect much. His first game back will likely be spent shaking off the rust and acclimating himself to a lineup filled with unfamiliar faces such as Andrew Wiggins and Eric Paschall.

Still, we are dealing with one of the league’s best offensive talents here. It is always possible that Curry will catch fire and light up the opposing team. His reputation as the greatest shooter of all time will instantly spread the floor for the Dubs.

As a result, Wiggins and Paschall should have a field day in the paint. Curry is going to draw the defense out to the perimeter, freeing up more space for drives to the hoop.

The Wizards are coming off of back-to-back losses in which Bradley Beal scored a combined total of 108 points across the two games. This means they will be inspired to give a full team effort on Sunday to help secure a victory.

It will take some time for Curry to look like his old self but his mere presence on the floor will benefit the Warriors immediately. The last half of the season will be much more enjoyable with Curry back on the court.
