It was disappointing to hear that Stephen Curry’s return to the Golden State Warriors has been pushed back but it is for the best.

The hype has been building up for Stephen Curry to make a return to the hardwood. Sadly, it seems the Golden State Warriors’ superstar will be missing his targeted return date of March 1 as he needs more time to recover from a fractured left hand.

Shams Charania reported yesterday that the Warriors believe Curry needs more time to practice and rehabilitate with the team before officially stepping back onto the court. This is a major disappointment but is the correct decision by the front office.

As Steve Kerr said earlier this week, Curry has only scrimmaged twice with the squad since being cleared for full-contact practice. The two-time MVP is set to practice with the Warriors G-League affiliate in an attempt to get his rhythm back.

On the surface, a fractured left hand seems like an injury that should take only a few weeks to recover from. However, it has been heavily reported that Curry is dealing with more than just a clean break and is suffering from nerve damage.

Recovery has been a bumpy road for Curry and there is no telling what could happen if he aggravated his injury further. The Warriors are being overly cautious to avoid causing any permanent damage to their franchise hero.

With a league-worst 12-47 record, there is no urgency for Curry to rush back to the floor. His presence will do nothing more than make the team more exciting down the stretch of a hopeless season.

Instead, the Dubs will continue to sit at the bottom of the standings and secure a top draft pick while Curry makes a full recovery. Everyone needs to remain patient with this process as Curry does what is best for his longterm health.
