Pick Analysis. G. Illawarra. player. 64. Scouting Report. LaMelo Ball. 1

Despite having less than a 10 percent chance of winning the NBA Draft Lottery, the Detroit Pistons luck out and win the No. 1 pick in our simulation.

The Pistons are in an interesting position as they are entering a full rebuild. Drafting for their biggest need should come as no problem as their biggest need is just about everything.

Primarily, the Pistons should be looking to add a player that they can build around for the future. LaMelo Ball seems to be the best fit for this mold and has the highest ceiling of any player in his class.

Ball has been developing at a rapid rate and was an elite offensive talent with the Illawarra Hawks. He made the most of his time overseas, averaging 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game on his way to winning the NBL Rookie of the Year Award.

His potential as a playmaker and leader should be enough to persuade the Pistons into selecting him.
