The Golden State Warriors want Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the Milwaukee Bucks, regardless of the return, shouldn’t take the bait.
While they haven’t expressed interest, every team in the NBA, including the Golden State Warriors, should want to get in on a possible Giannis Antetokounmpo deal. Well, not many have the high-value assets that Golden State has.
The Warriors have made it a point to secure picks that will help create a bright future. The Warriors now have what should be a top-three pick in this upcoming draft and then a potential lottery pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
They could give Andrew Wiggins and two potentially top-ten picks, one of which could be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft for Giannis. Well, if you’re the Milwaukee Bucks, there may not be a better offer for the reigning MVP.
Giannis has not made his situation in Milwaukee tense. He hasn’t said that he’s wanted out, but if the only NBA team with under ten losses can’t get the job done this season, there’s no denying the rumors will be in full effect.
Antetokounmpo is currently averaging 29.9 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists and over a block and steal per game. Those are MVP-caliber numbers, and he’s certainly the frontrunner to win the award for a second-straight season.
For the Bucks, they won’t have to trade him.
Unless he says he won’t re-sign, much like Anthony Davis did, the Bucks would likely let him play out his contract and then offer the star the league’s supermax deal, aimed for small-market teams to be able to offer something the larger markets can not.
For that reason, for the reason that they shouldn’t allow their superstar to walk, and for the reason that Giannis is just too good to trade, the Bucks must keep their superstar, and they must do so even if the Warriors’ toss them a mega offer that includes those two picks and Wiggins.
