Stephen Curry missed his initial March 1 return date, and the Golden State Warriors superstar point guard will likely return within the next week.
The Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry has been recalled after a very brief stint with the team’s G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors. It’d be perfect if his return is at home on Thursday night against the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors, as many remember, defeated Curry’s Dubs in the 2019 NBA Finals. Well, the Warriors were severely hampered by injuries, and the final straw was the loss of Klay Thompson in the third quarter of Game 6.
Golden State’s players didn’t discredit Canada’s first NBA title, but every fan knew things may be different if both teams were at full strength. Sadly, that’s not the reality, and a Curry-led Warriors may be able to enact revenge on the Raptors.
Curry, who broke his left hand in the fourth game of the season against the Phoenix Suns, was aiming for a March 1 return. That would have slated him to come back against the Wizards, a game the Warriors ended up losing by 14.
The Wizards made 20 threes and put up 124 points, spoiling what was hopefully going to Curry’s return. Obviously, before tip, we knew Curry wasn’t suiting up, but with the team even acknowledging his plan, it’s clear that Curry’s return is imminent.
Averaging just over 20 points per game in his mere four appearances, fans are itching to see their two-time MVP return. While the season is all but over as the team is still under 15 wins, the Warriors need some life, and Curry would bring just that.
Excitement is brewing in the Bay Area, and with Klay Thompson also talking about the future of dynasty, Golden State, a team many fans have written off, will be as strong as ever next season. They just have to finish out what was a forgettable 2019-2020 campaign first.
