Jordan Poole has weathered the storm in a bumpy rookie season for the Golden State Warriors. Here is how he continues to improve.

Jordan Poole’s NBA career did not get off to a good start. Projected as one of the best shooters in his class, Poole couldn’t hit a shot to save his life to begin the year. Now, heading down the stretch of the season, Poole is hitting his stride.

Over the last 10 games, Poole has scored 15+ in all but one of them. He has scored double-digits in each match and is top five in rookie scoring during this time. Overall, he is averaging 15.8 points on 47.1 percent shooting since early February.

This is a huge relief to fans of Swaggy P. Prior to this stretch, he had been arguably the worst player in the association. The young guard had been shooting an atrocious 25.4 percent from the floor before being sent to the G-League to regain confidence.

His brief stint in the G-League worked wonders as he has been on a tear ever since. He has hit 8-14 attempts from deep in his last three games and is heating up from all areas of the floor.

He has appeared much more comfortable within his role and is thriving alongside slashers such as Andrew Wiggins and Eric Paschall. Once the floor becomes even more spaced out due to Stephen Curry‘s eventual return, we can expect Poole to become even more efficient from deep.

The Warriors will not be relying on Poole too heavily any time soon but he can become a spark plug off the bench if he continues to improve. His most pressing concern right now is his defensive abilities.

Poole is a solid athlete but has a lot to learn about the NBA. He is consistently beaten by smarter opponents and will need to improve as a defender before earning consistent minutes on a contending team.

Nonetheless, this has been a reassuring stretch of basketball from the 20-year old rookie.
