Warriors’ Draymond Green brings out the flamethrower when talking about Charles Barkley
Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green erupted on TNT analyst Charles Barkley after the Hall of Famer gave brutal criticism of Green.
Warriors’ Draymond Green has never been one to shy away from those critiquing his play. While he draws it enough from fans, saying that he hasn’t done enough and that he’s been gifted his titles, Green recently drew some harsh words from TNT analyst Charles Barkley.
Reminder, Draymond Green is a three-time All-Star and three-time NBA Champion.
Barkley, a Hall of Fame power forward back in his day, mocked Green for both his stats and the team’s lack of success. The Warriors are a league-worst 14-49 so it’s clear they’ve struggled to find success this season.
Green, who has been the only player of the team’s initial Big 3 to play the majority of the season, isn’t the type of player to single-handedly lead a team to victory. Out against the Raptors in Stephen Curry’s return, Green drew criticism, and like always, he didn’t back down.
“Barkley should stop before I go take his job, though. Because I can do that well, too. He already didn’t make enough money playing, so he needs that job. He should stop talking to me. I’d like to — [I have] a tendency to end people, so he should stop before I take his job,” Green told ESPN’s Nick Friedell.
Green and Barkley have been going at it over the years so this is nothing new, but it’s always interesting when beef between fans and those in media arises. That said, maybe there is a part of Charles that is upset that he never won a title while putting up incredible numbers.
As for Green, he’s averaging just 8.0 points, 6.2 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game. Those numbers are down significantly from previous seasons despite the Warriors not having superstar forward Kevin Durant.
There’s no denying that what Barkley thinks resonates with fans, but at the end of the day, Green does have three rings.
How many does Barkley have again? While basketball is so much more than just championships, Green has been able to secure those while also being a major factor on the team. He hasn’t fallen into rings; he’s earned them.
