Conclusion

The Golden State Warriors need to be careful about potentially selecting LaMelo Ball.

Ball has seriously high potential but he is overly confident. This can be a blessing and a curse for him as he develops. Ball is going to make a ton of mistakes early in his career due to his infatuation with highlight plays.

This is something the Warriors might not be able to afford. The franchise is desperate to reach the NBA Finals once again and a wild card rookie might not be the best option to help them in their pursuit of a championship.

More importantly, it is uncertain how Ball would fit with the team. The backcourt is already stuffed with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The acquisition of Andrew Wiggins would make it impossible to slot Ball at the forward position and Wiggins is much too small to play the four.

This would mean that Ball would have to play with the second unit. It’s hard to imagine this is a role that Ball would welcomely accept as he has always been a high usage player.

Overall, Ball is a great prospect with a bright future. But, he isn’t the best fit for the Warriors right now.
