LaMelo Ball

Yes, the Golden State Warriors just dealt a star point guard to secure a top pick and a better fit. No, they aren’t going to pass up on LaMelo Ball if they view his vision and potential to be the best in the draft.

Ball, the young brother of Lonzo Ball, has been playing in the NBL, the professional basketball league in Australia. He’s been doing well and, according to basketball-reference, is averaging 17 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 12 games.

What’s discouraging about Ball’s numbers is that he’s shooting just 37.5% from the field. Ball should be more efficient for being a 6-foot-7 guard. Sadly, he’s shooting even worse from deep, connecting on just 25% of his threes.

The 18-year-old still has a sky-high ceiling and room for development. And, at 6-foot-7, he’s going to a mismatch nightmare for opponents in the NBA so that should help his case. Either way, it’s doubtful Ball goes No. 1 overall in the upcoming draft.
