James Wiseman

James Wiseman fits every potential need the Golden State Warriors have. A highly-rated recruit coming into Memphis, Wiseman, in his few games with the Tigers, was dominant and showed why he’s likely the draft’s top overall pick.

Wiseman averaged 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.

Even more impressive was the 3.3 blocks per game that Wiseman also tallied. Sadly, the nation was only able to watch him for three games, so it’s tough to really take those numbers into consideration.

A recent CBS Sports’ mock draft from Kyle Boone outlines why the Warriors will pick Wiseman at No. 1.

"Adding a 7-foot-1 center in James Wiseman who can be a defensive anchor on the back end of the Warriors defense is too tantalizing to pass up when you have Curry, Klay and Draymond in place. And while Wiseman’s shooting range may limit his upside in the short-term, what he can bring in the here and now as a rim-protector and lob threat is exactly what the Warriors need. There’s still plenty of untapped potential here, too."

Boone has Anthony Edwards at No. 2 and LaMelo Ball at No. 3. Those three are easily the top prospects in the draft. With the potential to turn the Warriors into a defensive powerhouse, drafting Wiseman seems to be the likely move.
