Conclusion

Anthony Edwards is poised for a successful NBA career, it just might not be with the Golden State Warriors.

The Dubs would love to add another two-way player like Edwards. At his best, he could fill in the same position that Andre Iguodala played for three championship runs. However, Edwards would be lacking mightly in the veteran experience that made Iggy so valuable.

Edwards will be wanting to play a big role and be the face of a franchise. This won’t be the case in Golden State. This is the same reason the Warriors elected to trade D’Angelo Russell at the deadline. The team simply doesn’t need any additional guards.

It’s possible Edwards would be very useful in the future as Stephen Curry enters the second half of his career. However, I don’t see either side being patient enough to make this work. Edwards is a promising prospect but not the one the Warriors will be needing.
