Conclusion

On paper, Obi Toppin may actually be the best fit in the draft for the Golden State Warriors.

He is more experienced than the rest of his class. This is beneficial for a team that is looking to make deep playoff runs immediately. The Warriors would feel more comfortable trusting Toppin with consistent minutes than an 18 or 19-year-old.

Toppin is also a good build for the Dubs current lineup. The Warriors would be able to create a versatile small-ball lineup with Toppin stretching the floor and acting as a slasher. In time, Toppin may be able to replace Draymond Green.

Of course, the Dubs would have to work with Toppin on the defensive end. He has the athleticism needed to be a plus on this side of the floor but he has a lot to learn before being considered a skilled defender.

The Warriors will be hoping to land a top-three pick in order to acquire a prospect with star potential. However, Toppin wouldn’t be too bad of a backup plan.
