The Golden State Warriors and head coach Steve Kerr were “very concerned” that Stephen Curry’s flu was the rapidly-spreading coronavirus.

The NBA, including all Golden State Warriors’ games, is suspended because of COVID-19, more commonly known as the coronavirus. At least three NBA players have been diagnosed with the virus that has killed thousands throughout the world.

Prior to the league suspending play, Stephen Curry had missed games just days after returning from his broken hand. He was listed as being out due to an illness. That illness was reported as the flu, but it appears head coach Steve Kerr was worried that Curry may have contracted the coronavirus.

Thankfully, he does not, but the concern was still there according to NBC Sports’ Logan Murdock.

"“We all were very concerned that maybe he had the coronavirus,” Kerr told NBC Sports Bay Area during a phone conversation on Saturday. “And that’s why our team doctors were very, very much on the case.”"

The two-time MVP was expected to be back on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets, a game that never actually took place. However, the Warriors had already implemented official changes to limit the spread by going to a spectator-less performance before the league’s official suspension.

As of Sunday, the coronavirus has already spread to 160,000 according to Johns Hopkins coronavirus resource center.

Other countries and looking to limit the pandemic as well. Italy, one of the countries hit worst by the disease, has gone to a full quartine. With most major sports and gatherings canceled, postponed or suspended, the USA has been doing its best to limit the spread of the illness as well.

While we don’t know when the league is going to resume play, we do know that the Warriors’ future is still bright. With a top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft on the way and potentially a top pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Warriors will be just fine.
