A former member of the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant, has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus that has frozen the sports world.
Kevin Durant is the latest NBA player to test positive for the COVID-19 virus. Durant is one of seven players to contract the coronavirus. Thus far, no members of the Golden State Warriors have tested positive for the disease.
Rudy Gobert was the first confirmed case of the virus among the NBA. Soon after, Donovan Mitchell and Christian Wood were diagnosed. Now, a total of four players on the Brooklyn Nets have been confirmed to have the virus.
Durant is reportedly feeling fine and has urged everyone to be careful and remain safe. The two-time Finals MVP is in good health but the larger concern is the fact that this virus has spread so rapidly. Not many realize that a person can be infectious without showing any symptoms of carrying the disease.
Just a few weeks ago, the league had planned to resume it’s season normally with speculation that they may play in spectator-less games. Now, the NBA has come to an abrupt stop and the future of the season is in question.
It has been reported that the NBA is looking at a June return date as the best-case scenario. The association is doing its best to follow orders from health officials and will not put any fans or players at risk.
This disease will likely have an effect on the Warriors moving forward. They are playing in a high-risk area and could wind up playing without fans for a few games once the league resumes.
As we wait for our beloved sport to return, we must continue to take the necessary precautions and do everything we can to speed up this recovery process. Please, follow any guidelines the CDC has given out and do your best to stay home for the next few weeks.
