The Golden State Warriors saw incredible success in the 2010s, and a major part of that was their elite early-decade drafting.
There’s no denying the Golden State Warriors were the best team throughout the bulk of the 2010s. The Warriors stood at the top of the league three times and represented the West in the five-straight NBA Finals to end the decade.
While the early parts of the decade led the way, it was the Warriors big 3 that took this organization to the next level, and they desperately needed it after a prior decade filled with struggle.
But, that’s not to say that a few of the Warriors’ drafts throughout the 2000s were unsuccessful. Whether it was retaining players or building a team around those stars, rising to the top of the league in such a short time is no easy task.
Changing the league as we know it while setting the record for the best single-season record, the Warriors are now globally-known organization that hinges on being one of the best cultures and cities to play in.
That said, let’s dive into the top five drafts since 2000 and see what has really created such a successful last half a decade in Golden State.
