2001

The Warriors 2001 draft picks were highlighted by Jason Richardson and Gilbert Arenas. The Michigan State and Arizona alums both produced big results for the Golden State.

Jason Richardson was a hot pick in his time, but he was not always first-round draft potential. He saw tremendous growth in his two seasons with the Michigan State Spartans. His first season in college basketball held a mere five points per game average.

However, his sophomore season showed great potential as he jumped to 14.7 points per game.

In his debut season with the NBA, Jason Richardson was dubbed Rookie of the Year in the 2001-2002 season. In his six seasons with the Warriors, the first-round pick Richardson averaged 18.1 points per game.

Other than that, his time with the Warriors wasn’t too exceptional; however, his 2007-2008 season with the Charolette Bobcats held many honors for him including the most three-point field goals in the league.

As for Gilbert Arenas, he may have only played two seasons with the Warriors, but he was able to tab 15.6 points per game in his time with them. While playing with the Warriors in 2002-2003 he was awarded the Most Improved Player in the NBA.

He went on to be more successful on his 8 seasons with the Washington Wizards where he averaged 22.9 points per game.

His career most definitely peaked with the Wizards where he made the All-Star game three seasons in a row (2005-2007) and had the most 3-point field goals in the 2006-2007 season. Arenas is an NBA legend but not necessarily one in the Bay Area.
