3 reasons the Golden State Warriors should trade Andrew Wiggins this offseason
Golden State could use more defensive and shooting
The Golden State Warriors do not need offense. For the majority of his career, that’s what Andrew Wiggins has been good for. He can score. While at times it can be rather inefficiently, he knows how to put the ball in the bucket.
Throughout his six-year career, Wiggins is averaging 19.7 points per game. He’s good at scoring. But, what’s worrisome is that he’s not overly efficient at it, shooting just 44.1% from the field for his career.
He has shot over 34% from three-point land just once in his career as well so there’s reason for concern there. The Warriors need a player that will be both disruptive defensively and fit the mold offensively.
Wiggins does that far better than Russell would have. That doesn’t mean that there couldn’t be better. Averaging just 1 steal and 0.6 blocks per game, Wiggins’ deflections per game is also a mere 1.4, barely ranking within the top 100 in the league.
The Warriors need an active defender that can be a cheaper substitute.
