Meyers Leonard

Not quite the superstar that the Portland Trail Blazers, who drafted him with their lottery pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, thought he’d be, Meyers Leonard has put together an excellent season for the Miami Heat.

He’s a little known yet highly impactful reason for their success. Leonard is averaging 6.1 points per game.

It’s not his scoring that makes him a highly-touted potential addition but rather his shooting. Leonard is connecting on 43% of his three-pointers this season and shot 45% from deep last season.

Stephen Curry has only shot over 45% from downtown three times in a season and Ray Allen just once, and with Leonard making 0.8 per game, it’s not like he was just 9-for-20 and that was all. He consistently took and made threes.

At 7-foot-0, Leonard is also averaging a career-high in rebounds per game to go along with just the second-most minutes of his career. He may be looking at a big payday or could hopefully slide under the radar.

Leonard and Thompson are hopefully additions while Biyombo’s market should be low enough for Golden State to actually have a shot at bringing him on board.
