The NBA seems adamant about keeping the 2019-2020 season alive, and if they do, the league will feel the Golden State Warriors pain.

What pain one may ask? Well, the pain that the Golden State Warriors have felt for five straight seasons. The pain that comes with playing well past the season’s projected end.

Limited offseasons and less time to scout potential draft picks both come to mind as negatives that arise with making several deep playoff runs.

This has been a reality for the Warriors franchise and a dilemma for their front office for the last five consecutive seasons, but no one would have it any different. Who would not want their team making five straight Finals?

While, if possible, we’d change the current dynamic in the NBA given the coronavirus outbreak, the Warriors will be in a positive position to take advantage of it.

Players like Klay Thompson will get additional time to recovery and then players like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green will just get time to rest. They’ve been running with the pedal on the metal for the last five-plus years.

While they get to rest, teams like the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers to go along with the LA Clippers will be playing late into the season. With this season, in particular, we may not know what month the season-ending NBA Finals will take place.

Players may only get three or so months for their offseason. Imagine an early June restart to the season, a date that has no reported backing. That would make the Finals sometime in August. Then, the draft and free agency is in September or October.

While the timeline is different, the Warriors, who have played into June the last few seasons, wouldn’t have the stress of figuring their individual situations out. Teams like the Clippers would have to figure it out on the fly.

With 15 wins when the season was suspended and already out of playoff contention, the rest of the league, at least the ones that make it deep into the playoffs, will feel Golden State’s pain.
