Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant left for Brooklyn during the 2019 offseason. While he was technically signed and traded in a deal that brought Russell to the Bay Area, Durant nonetheless took his talent elsewhere.

While some were puzzled, no one was blaming Durant. The organization and community, for the most part, thanked him for a tremendously successful three seasons. Durant could’ve changed the 2019-2020 season, most likely for the worst.

All Golden State needed a bit of a break until their core was healthy. Once healthy, even without Durant, they could’ve conquered the league. After all, they were almost there when Klay Thompson tore his ACL during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

A former MVP and four-time scoring champion, Durant is still in the prime of his career.

Sadly, had Durant been in Golden State, all he really would’ve contributed is a fresh spirit and a stable future, not more wins. Durant, who was out with a torn Achilles this season, would’ve been sidelined had he been in Golden State as well.

Durant would’ve added consistency and certainty to the future, not necessarily changed the season.
