Steve Kerr, the Golden State Warriors head coach of now six years, thinks the team’s season is all but over with the league currently suspended.

For all basketball-related reasons, some fans may want the Golden State Warriors season to be over.

The team is just 15-50 and would typically have 17 more games slated to be played, but given the COVID-19 outbreak, the potential to not finish the regular season increases by the day. The silver lining is that they should bounce back even stronger next year.

That said, with more cases by the thousands each 24-hour period, Adam Silver and the NBA will have some tough decisions to make in the coming months. Leaning conservatively on the federal guidelines, it’s difficult to see any soon return to action for the league.

If this drags on too long, the regular season will be in jeopardy, and skipping that final month of games is something Kerr believes could easily happen.

There is widespread concern that this could be how the season plays out as the association has been adamant about somehow finishing the season.

Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr on “The Full 48,” via Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area said he doubts the team will play any more regular-season games. This doesn’t come at a shock given the league’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

"“Look, for us, our season is basically over,” Kerr said. “If the league was somehow to start up again, it’s very unlikely we would be playing regular-season games given that they’d be in such a time crunch. Who knows?“But I’m feeling for all the teams in the fight, in the thick of it for a championship, that are in the playoff race, teams that have put so much into this, and this was obviously a year for us where we were trying to get healthy, trying to develop some young guys. So I’m not concerned about our guys, our team. I feel sorry for the teams that are kind of in limbo right now.”"

The Warriors will obviously be following whatever rules the NBA lays down. Prepared to play a game without fans prior to the league’s suspension, Golden State has always been forward-thinking when it comes to issues impacting the NBA.

Overall, what happens will largely be out of the hands of Steve Kerr, but a prominent figure in basketball, his opinion on the matter should carry some weight. Having been to five straight Finals prior to this season, Kerr is likely ready for it to be over and to return to the Dubs winning ways.
