Robert Covington

When thinking of the quintessential player to put at the three alongside Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, many immediately think of Robert Covington. A lengthy 6-foot-9 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Covington was among several players traded at the 2020 NBA trade deadline.

From Minnesota to Houston, the Rockets may be willing to flip Covington for the right price, although the veteran forward has played well beside James Harden and Russell Westbrook. What makes Covington so valuable is, for one, his contract.

He’s set to make just over eight figures till after the 2021-2022 season. Also, he shoots over 35% from downtown, having peaked at 37.8% during the 2018-2019 season.

Combine both those, and the Warriors may have to give up a first-round pick and Wiggins. The pick should be lower in the first round, unlike the 2021 Wolves pick the Warriors acquired.

This deal seems like something both teams should entertain as Houston may want to start loading up on draft capital in the near future.
