The NBA is doing it’s best to make some content, and sadly, no Golden State Warriors will be involved in the process.

The NBA and 2K, the NBA-based video game, will team up to make a single-elimination tournament comprised of 16 NBA players. Of those 16, not a single Golden State Warriors was selected or, for all we know, took the invitation.

However, two Warriors that were with the team just a season ago are taking part in the action. Those two are Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins.

Ranked 1-16, Durant takes over as the No. 1 overall seed, ranked 96, while Cousins is looking at the 11th seed. It appears that the players are ranked for the tournament based on their rating within the game.

“Players were seeded based on their player rating in NBA 2K20, with Durant, a 96 overall in the game, as the No. 1 seed. Players who were tied in overall rating were seeded based on tenure in the league,” ESPN said in a release.

The opening round of the tournament will take place on Friday and Sunday. This is an exciting development given all the desperation within the United States as the coronavirus continues to take the country by storm.

That said, it would’ve been pretty cool to see Klay Thompson or Stephen Curry be able to take part in the tournament. What would’ve been even better is if Draymond Green, given his competitive personality, would’ve been able to snag a spot.

This tournament will be the closest thing fans get to live basketball for quite some time. With the league currently suspended, there’s no return date as the virus has seemingly not even peaked in the States.

We’re at the point in the entertainment world where these games will make the ESPN flagship station.

The first round will be on ESPN at 7-8:30 pm EST on Friday, April 3. While many have nothing better to with stay at home orders in the bulk of states, this could be a solid way for ESPN to find some viewership in what’s destined to be an extremely low point for the network.
