Obi Toppin

Currently sitting at No. 2, Obi Toppin has been hailed as this draft’s most NBA-ready player. Having played his last collegiate season for Dayton, Toppin was supposed to help the team, already ranked in the top ten, make a deep postseason run.

Now, he’ll be gearing up for the draft instead.

In that last year, though, the 6-foot-9 forward averaged 20 points per game on 63.3% shooting. That should already jump off the screen at you. Then, on top of that, he nailed a three per game and averaged over a block and steal per game as well.

Among Wooden Award finalists, Toppin could easily fill a void in the team’s frontcourt next season.

“I think Obi would be great playing with Steph Curry,” Obadiah Toppin, Obi’s father, said on the Raising Fame podcast via NBC Sports’ Dalton Johnson. His mom’s comment to where he wants to play was just “Golden State.”

NBC’s Rob Dauster also chipped in praising Tobbin.

"“Toppin is one of three guys in this draft that, if I were an NBA GM, I would want to definitively be higher than the field on, and the reason for that is two-fold: On the one hand, Toppin is one of just a handful of players in this 2020 NBA Mock Draft that I believe can make a significant impact in the NBA as a rookie, and given that the top of this draft class is made up of players that are going to be drafted on their potential without having the upside of being a franchise-changing talent, I think there is value in drafting a guy with a rock-solid floor.”"

The Golden State Warriors will be looking for a high-floor player. As one of the league’s premier teams, they need someone who can both contribute immediately and can be a long-term asset for the franchise.

That someone is Obi Toppin.
