Klay Thompson has been one of the best shooters in NBA history, and his numbers for the Golden State Warriors speak for themself.

The Golden State Warriors dynasty was built on a three-headed monster. A crux of that monster, elite shooting guard and two-way phenom Klay Thompson hasn’t been talked about much while injured.

We need to change that.

Klay Thompson has been known for a few things over the course of his NBA career. His ability to score without dribbling is one. His ability to lock down some of the NBA’s most elite scorers is another.

The most important of them all is just his incredible ability to shoot.

Thompson is one of the best shooters this league has ever known. What’s most astonishing about his stats are that, similar to Stephen Curry, he has never shot under 40% from downtown in a season.

Just the thought of making at least two of every five threes is a pipe dream to some. However, it’s not that Thompson just takes a few and makes a few. He’s taking volume shots, hoisting up seven per game over his career and over that number the last five seasons.

One of the three seasons in which the Warriors were able to win the championship in the past half a decade, Thompson’s efficiency was of utmost importance. With Curry and Kevin Durant helping space the court, Thompson nailed 44% of his triples, one of the best percentages in the league.

He’s even better from the corner, shooting just under 46% from those shorters triples. That said, Thompson is a top-15 shooter percentage-wise. He’s in the top-20 in most three-point field goals made currently and should finish within at least the top-10 of that category as well.

With the “third-quarter Klay” to his name as well, Thompson’s ability to heat up has been crucial, and most of those buckets come from behind the arc. For now, a torn ACL is the only thing that shut down “third-quarter Klay.”

But, he will be back, and hopefully, he’ll be better than ever in 2020.
