Believe it or not, Andrew Wiggins is going to play a crucial role in determining how far the Golden State Warriors go next season.

There is a lot riding on Andrew Wiggins this year. The former No. 1 overall pick has been granted a second opportunity to become a star and will be relied on heavily by the Golden State Warriors as they compete for another title.

Wiggins won’t be given as many responsibilities but the pressure will undoubtedly be higher. The Warriors aren’t going to ask Wiggins to score the ball at a high rate or carry a large chunk of the offense. But, he will need to remain consistently good and display growth, something that has plagued Wiggins throughout his young career.

The biggest criticism behind Wiggins and his seemingly disappointing time in the NBA thus far is the fact that he hasn’t improved much. Since joining the league as a high-flying sensational athlete, he has remained pretty much a water-downed version of the player we saw in college.

He has improved as a shooter but still lacks the fire and energy needed for him to take over games. His 19.7 points per game feel meaningless in the big picture as he rarely makes his impact felt on the floor.

Wiggins won’t be able to skate by with the Warriors. The franchise can’t afford to give minutes to a player that isn’t being productive. This means Wiggins has two options, sink or swim.

Assuming that Wiggins is able to use the extra motivation in being a given second chance, we can see him peak as a third option within the Dubs offense. Timely buckets and above-average defense will keep him in the lineup for good.

dark. Next. 3 Players that could become the face of the Warriors

Wiggins is a talented slasher and the Warriors will look to maximize his finishing ability by spreading the floor. If he takes advantage of this, he will revive his career and play a pivotal role in bringing the Dubs another championship.
