While some teams are begging for the 2019-20 NBA season to resume the Golden State Warriors are happily preparing for next year.

It has been nearly a month since the league came to a grinding halt following the COVID-19 outbreak. Nearly every NBA team has been hurt in some way by the suspension. Except for the Golden State Warriors, who have nothing to lose by the season coming to a premature end.

Before the basketball world stopped, the Warriors sulked at the bottom of the league standings. With four fewer losses than any other team in the association, the Dubs were the only team mathematically eliminated from playoff contention thus far.

This should come as no shock considering the Warriors have been playing without three of their best players from last season. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have been injured while Kevin Durant is recovering in Brooklyn.

Because of this, the Warriors have no interest in resuming the NBA season. The team is better off gearing up for next season and returning to the floor at full strength.

The same can’t be said for other squads across the league. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks are begging to resume play as soon as possible in order to capitalize on their chances of winning a title. LeBron James himself recently stated that he won’t have ‘any closure’ if the season is lost forever.

For Golden State, a lost season has no impact on their conscience. If anything, this only helps them, as they could potentially still be the reigning Western Conference champs next year.
