Kevin Durant re-signed

The Golden State Warriors would’ve re-signed Kevin Durant this offseason, but he opted to team up with Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn.

The Nets haven’t been great, but that can again be attributed to Durant having been out all season after rupturing his Achilles in the 2019 NBA Finals. Durant’s re-signing would’ve tremendously changed the Warriors’ future.

They’d be coasting into the 2020-2021 season as easily the league’s best team, but this time around, they’ll enter the new season, whenever that will be, as a top-five team but arguably the best prepared for the long-term future.

With a top-five pick on the way and another top pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Warriors kept pressing forward without Durant, but had the four-time scoring champion stayed, he could’ve easily won a few more rings and solidified the Warriors as the greatest dynasty in the history of the league.

While that’s still open if they win a few more titles, it’ll be much more difficult with just Curry and Thompson leading the way again dynamic duos in the Western Conference.
