The Golden State Warriors traded D’Angelo Russell halfway through the season, but he clearly still has some love for Stephen Curry.
D’Angelo Russell, now a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, got to see the wonders of Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry in practice and throughout a few games, although sadly Curry missed the bulk of the season with a broken left hand.
When naming his all-time starting five, Russell also listed Curry.
Russell included Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James — all locks. However, the fifth spot, typically given to a center, was a toss-up between Kevin Durant and Shaq, although Durant isn’t oftentimes thought of as a center his height certainly doesn’t make the decision too far-fetched.
To be fair, we don’t know if Curry would’ve cracked Russell’s all-time top five, and Russell was put on the spot. That said, here’s a video of Russell going through his all-time starting five, listing each of the aforementioned but making sure to take his time while doing so.

Russell, a former All-Star, has improved each of his five seasons in the league. That includes his mere one season in the Bay, a half-season stint which Russell was asked to lead the team into battle with both Curry and Klay Thompson sidelined.
Having been dealt for a first-round pick, second-round pick, and Andrew Wiggins along with taking some teammates with him to Minnesota, Russell will look to restart his career yet again with a new franchise, having been in Los Angeles and Brooklyn prior to Golden State.
As for Curry, he’s taken the league by storm over the last half a decade. From being the league’s first-ever unanimous MVP in 2016, Curry has continued to reign supreme, notching three titles and two MVPs throughout his 11-year career.
The 32-year-old baby-faced assassin was once a lottery pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Since his entrance to the league, he’s exploded as one of the best point guards the league has ever seen. He ranked third in all-time three-pointers made.
Curry isn’t widely considered the best point guard to ever pick up a basketball, but there’s no denying Russell has, at the very least, a strong argument when putting Curry at the top.
