Kevon Looney

The Golden State Warriors signed Kevon Looney to a long-term deal following his terrific 2019 postseason.

He wasn’t overly dominant as a scorer, but his versatility as a defender, mostly shown against the Houston Rockets, along with his energy on the boards is what took his game to the next level. Looney, that next offseason, signed a three-year, $15 million deal.

Looney was rewarded for his hard work, and sadly, the season following those performances, his play took a nosedive, partially due to his nagging injuries. Looney played just 20 games, starting four. He averaged 3.4 points per game.

To say it was a rough season for Looney is an understatement.

That said, Looney is one of the few Warriors that aren’t on a veteran’s minimum, and the team could need that cap space. Looney has trade value as he is on a team-friendly contract, but it’d be tough to move him because that value just isn’t what other teams are willing to pay.

The team’s 2015 first-round pick, Looney will likely stay put, but he could be lost as the team will undoubtedly try to enhance their roster this coming offseason.
