Heading into the offseason, the Golden State Warriors must make the most of their $17 million dollar trade exception from Andre Iguodala.

With the eventual return of both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the Golden State Warriors are going to be in pretty good shape for next season. Even with the Splash Brother’s back in action, it will take a strong supporting cast to push them over the edge again.

Curry and Thompson are two all-time greats but even they need help competing for a title. Draymond Green has seen a noticeable decline in his game over the last two seasons and will be asked to step it up with more on the line next year.

However, even with a great season from the big three, the Warriors supporting cast will need to show up as well. As of now, the Dubs are mostly made up of a collection of unproven players and outcasts from other teams.

This could play to their advantage. A squad full of underdogs is exactly the type of energy that could help them play with a chip on their shoulders and maintain a competitive edge.

Regardless, additional talent couldn’t hurt. The Warriors will have roughly $17 million dollars in cap space due to Andre Iguodala’s trade exception. What they do with this money will be pivotal in deciding their fate.

It’s crucial the Warriors pick up at least one rotational player with this opening in salary. Players such as Dennis Schroder and Marcus Smart headline their potential but other lowkey names like Evan Fournier and Aaron Baynes could be helpful as well.

The Dubs will need to acquire a player that can be trusted in big moments. They can’t rely entirely on their aging big three to get the job done again. It will truly take a ‘Strength in Numbers’ performance for the Warriors to reclaim their throne.
