3 similarities the 90s Bulls and Golden State Warriors’ dynasties had
The blueprint
The Golden State Warriors’ first NBA championship-winning roster was composed of several veterans, but the bulk of the production was done through a superstar guard, a dynamic, defensive-minded wingman and then gritty forward.
The Bulls, who had Michael Jordan as their superstar guard, Scottie Pippen as their defensive-minded wingman and then Dennis Rodman as their gritty forward, had the exact same trio leading the way.
For Golden State, it’s clearly Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green in respective order. Having been the league’s only unanimous MVP, Curry rose to stardom during the team’s 2014-2015 title run.
Aside from those three, the Warriors saw significant contributions from four-time scoring champion Kevin Durant and 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala. Those two were huge for the Warriors dynasty as well and deserve being mentioned.
The Warriors’ 73-win season was one without Kevin Durant, making it even more impressive, topping the Bulls’ 72-win season. A record not many thought would be beaten, the Warriors had every ounce of grit that Chicago used to bring on a nightly basis during that season.
