The Golden State Warriors were incredible during the 2015-2016 season, winning a league-record 73 games. But, could they down the 2017-2018 Dubs?

Having the “best” team of all-time, the Golden State Warriors weren’t able to win the NBA Finals after taking a 3-1 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. They won 73 games that season, a streak that had many thinking the team just ran out of gas.

Immediately following that 3-1 comeback, the Golden State Warriors started to recruit again. This time, they brought in four-time scoring champion and former MVP Kevin Durant. Adding a four-time scoring champion in his prime has to create a more fierce animal, right?

Well, it did, but that 2016-2017 team nor the 2017-2018 one came nowhere near the 73-win mark. And, although they won the Finals in both of those seasons, they won’t be talked about in 20 years like that incredible run back in 2015.

Don’t tell Draymond Green that though.

The three-time All-Star and three-time NBA Champion, one of the few players that played through those seasons and still remains on the team, Green believe the team after the addition of Kevin Durant would’ve beaten the 2015-2016 one.

“Honestly, our 2017-2018 team probably would have beat our 2016 team by 20 to 25 points,” Green told ESPN’s Nick Friedell.

Think about that.

20 to 25 points is no small beating.

That’s a full-on beatdown.

To be fair, Green likely isn’t wrong. While it’s impossible to truly ever know and since the 2015-2016 Warriors did seemingly have better chemistry, the jury is still out, but from a pure talent standpoint, it’s not even close.

While Green was at his best during the season prior to Durant’s arrival, it’s tough to look at the team from a holistic standpoint and say it was better. However, when we talk about the 73-win team in history, many may regard them as the best ever.
