Couple Wiggins and picks for a star

Andrew Wiggins is by no means a bad basketball player.

He showed during his short stint with the Warriors prior to the season’s suspension that he can be a solid Harrison Barnes-like player for this team. As many remember, Barnes was the fourth star on the team’s 2014-2015 championship roster.

However, the team may be able to bring in another true superstar for Wiggins and their projected top-three 2020 draft pick. If you toss in Minnesota’s 2021 draft pick that they acquired in the deal involving D’Angelo Russell, the Warriors could bring in a big-time superstar.

Players like Giannis Antetokounmpo may be off-limits, but a Joel Embiid-like talent that is capable of being an All-Star should be at least in their range. After all, the Warriors could get lucky and land the No. 1 pick in the now-postponed NBA Draft Lottery.

Given Wiggins’ contract structure and that he’s owed over $33 million in the 2022-2023 season, the Warriors may want to figure out a way to offload that contract anyway. Coupling him with a few picks would be an ideal package for the Warriors.
