3 ways the Golden State Warriors can improve their roster this offseason
Use the Andre Iguodala-created trade exception
The Golden State Warriors have a $17.2 million trade exception waiting for their use this offseason, assuming the league pushes back the date that they must use it by.
While that could still bring in a top-tier player, the Warriors do have the option of splitting the exception into two and using it for two mid-level players. After all, with the Warriors’ lack of cap space and depth, they could use the help of two players.
Ricky Rubio, Evan Fournier, and Dennis Schroder are among the candidates that NBC Sports’ suggested the exception be used for. It certainly won’t be enough to bring in a true superstar like Anthony Davis or Gordon Hayward.
The trade exception could easily be the team’s top option for improving their roster. Adding a player like Fournier alongside Curry and Thompson would create a dominant five-man roster when also adding in Green and Wiggins.
The Warriors need to improve in order to dominate the league again, and these three ways will be the easiest path for them to get the players needed to do so.
