Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher pegged a Rudy Gobert-for-Draymond Green trade as one that both the Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors should consider.

The Golden State Warriors should be looking to improve their roster this offseason, and while it’s not officially the offseason quite yet, it, in theory, is for the 15-50 Warriors. They’re currently the only team not in playoff contention.

That said, one way the Dubs can improve this offseason is obviously by trading. Players like Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry will be off-limits for other teams, but Draymond Green could be given his declining play over the last few seasons.

Ric Bucher, an NBA Insider for Bleacher Report, took a look a swapping the two Defensive Player of the Years, and it may be a bargain for the Warriors.

“A Gobert-for-Green deal meets salary-cap trade requirements, and the Jazz would get a former Defensive Player of the Year for the reigning one. The Warriors, meanwhile, would get a younger (and physically more imposing) one,” Bucher wrote.

He goes on to cite the “irreconcilable” relationship between Gobert and Donovan Mitchell as a reason why the two parties may part ways. To be fair, it makes sense if Mitchell is that adamant over the situation.

Gobert is one of the best rim protectors in the NBA, but Mitchell is the face of the franchise. If one had to go, you can bet the Jazz franchise office will be shipping out Gobert, and the Warriors could be an ideal landing spot for him.

In his prime, Gobert would likely command more than just Green. While Green is a three-time champion and three-time All-Star, Gobert has developed into one of the game’s best defenders and is a mere 27.

Gobert is almost two blocks while also notching 15.1 points and 13.7 rebounds per game. To top it all off, his field goal percentage nears 70%.

He’d be an ideal addition in what could be the offseason’s blockbuster trade. However, gauging his value given his contract and then even if he’s on the market is tricky before even looking into any potential deal.
