Gobert and the Jazz may have irreversible damage

Rudy Gobert took a light-hearted approach to the coronavirus, putting both himself and his teammates in danger. Several Jazz players did end up contracting the virus along with the young Frenchman Gobert.

Mitchell is the team’s superstar. He’s the face of the franchise.

After Gobert was careless in the locker room as the virus started its upswing in the United States, Mitchell and other members of the Jazz tested positive. For Mitchell, the team’s leader, that didn’t sit well.

Here’s how the Deseret News’ Sarah Todd put it.

"With the report of unrest in the Jazz locker room being punctuated by noting that a second Jazz player had tested positive, the insinuation seemed to be that Gobert transmitted the virus to Mitchell."

Multiple reports went on to say that Mitchell was frustrated with Gobert. While new reports note that Mitchell has cooled off, the relationship may continue to harden, and if it does, the Jazz may need to find a new home for the reigning DPOY.

Golden State, for these three reasons, should be the franchise that makes a significant offer for Gobert.
