Bringing in another forward

The Golden State Warriors don’t absolutely need a superstar to get back to the NBA Finals. They just need solid complementary pieces to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Aaron Gordon could be that piece.

A versatile small forward that is ultra-athletic and can help take their defense to the next level is exactly what they need. Given that he makes over $18 million, they’d have to do a little maneuvering which is where the Hawks and Dedmon come in.

If the Hawks want to rid themselves of that contract, they can initially trade him to Golden State who would sign him with the $17.2 million trade exception they have from the offseason’s Andre Iguodala deal.

Then they take Dedmon and trade him to Orlando along with their first-round pick, a deal that should be a win-win.

Gordon went from just under 13 to up near 18 points per game before regressing this season. The Magic have numerous scoring threats, limiting the 24-year-old’s effectiveness. Swapping Gordon for a high-ceiling Anthony Edwards should be something the Magic would consider.

This is an interesting concept and one that could certainly prove true. However, before this happens, the Warriors would likely deal Andrew Wiggins, who is also a small forward. Nonetheless, if Gordon is on the move, the Warriors should be knocking on the door.
