Marcus Smart

When you think of a star in the NBA, it’s not typically Celtics’ guard Marcus Smart. However, Smart’s gritty play, his intense defense, and his energy create a player that every team wants on their roster.

The team could bring Smart is for their Andre Iguodala-created trade exception. Here’s a fake trade that NBC Sports wrote on. It shows exactly what it might take for Smart to actually be brought to the Bay Area.

Averaging a career-high 13.5 points per game, Smart is still relatively inefficient. However, it’s about so much more than just his percentages, very much so the same mindset we take with Draymond Green.

Smart ranks 11th in deflections per game. He’s also in the top 50 in loose balls recovered per game. While those stats still really don’t tell the whole story, Smart’s addition would give the Warriors a scary good defensive backcourt.

His numbers don’t say he’s a star, but Smart certainly is a player you want on your team.
